Back in high school I helped my sister’s boyfriend record a few songs for a CD of jazz music. It just so happened he ended up marrying her and is now my brother in law, but that’s not really the point of this post. I rediscovered that CD recently and have really enjoyed it, so I though you might too. Play each file, after the break. Click the post title to see the songs. Continue reading…

About fifteen hours or so ago I posted a response to an acquaintance on a micro blogging platform I use in regards to Quicksilver, a free program for Mac OS X. This acquaintance (well, it was Adii) was looking to start using it, and I offered up some reading material. He and a couple of others seemed interested in how to best use it, so I thought I would take a few minutes and explain why this is the first program I’ll be installing on all of my Macs from now on.

One of the only (yup, probably the only) fictional authors I read is an incredibly talented (and slightly demented) man named Chuck Pahlaniuk. My interest in him began with Fight Club some 10 years ago and has since developed into my reading everything he’s published. Most recently, my interest has resulted in me devouring his recent book Rant.

Thought it would be worth mentioning that Greg Boyd will be speaking at Mars Hill on the 29th of this month.
Worth going. Definitely worth going.
There is also a new tour planned, called Calling All Peacemakers. Check out its website. Unfortunately it only seems to be a european tour. The tour seems to be based off of a series of messages Bell preached at Mars in December. If you didn’t catch the podcast, let me know and I will totally send you a copy. It’s well worth it.

Just a note – in case anyone is interested in a) preparing and running a podcast or b) formatting their own video for play on both iPods and iTV, Apple has some information up about how best to do it. Check it out.

Just caught an email from Rockstar announcing the first trailer for GTA IV. Looks pretty sweet.
I synced it to my new iPod.
I’ve also grabbed a video podcast from Ask A Ninja and season two of Robot Chicken, just to have something to do during chapels this week.

In the past I have had a strong distaste for Myspace (and still do), often offering free blog designs to my friends for promising to stay off Myspace / delete their current page. Yeah, I guess you could consider mine strong feelings.
So my friends might be surprised to hear that I actually had a tab containing (nay, restraining) Myspace today. I was taking a look at the recently published Nooma page on Myspace.

Run over to NoomaExtras.com and read about how to become an extra in the next two Nooma videos, 17 and 18. Before you get too excited, though, it’s only available to those in the Jacksonville, FL area.

I just finished reading a great piece from The New York Times in which Fincher and other crew members were interviewed concerning their roles in Fincher’s upcoming movie Zodiac.

One of the questions asked at the Q+A the other night was “How can I be as knowledgeable as you are?” This is an interesting question in itself, but even better was the answer. Rob said to go to MarsHill.org and request his reading list using the contact form. You can do this yourself (I did last night when we got home!) or you just click below. I hope he doesn’t mind.

I had the pleasure of traveling to the University of Michigan tonight and seeing Rob Bell (again!) during a Q+A and book signing for his new book Sex God. I found out through a good friend that Rob was touring for his new book (and still is) so I gathered together those interested and we took off. It was amazing.
